Visiting ethnic minority communities in Hong Kong

Miss Maggie Wong and students form the Asian Studies programme (BSocSc-AS) joined a local tour in Ping Lai Path where they learnt about the history, religion and lifestyle of the ethnic minority communities in Hong Kong. The tour was wrapped up by a delicious halal meal!

Students from the module ASI1002 “Individual and society” were engaged in service learning this semester. In March this year, after receiving training on the philosophy and skills of storybook-telling to non-Chinese children, our students went to the Tsing Yi Trade Association Primary School and gained valuable hands-on experience by reading Chinese storybooks and producing related artworks with a group of Pakistani pupils. At the same time these ethnic minority pupils had more exposures to Chinese extra-curricular readings.
