The Department of Social Science (SSC) and the Centre for Greater China Studies (CGCS) of HSUHK are delighted to announce the upcoming Conference on Social Transformation and Social Challenges in Greater China, to be held on 27 April 2024 at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.
Greater China has witnessed remarkable social transformation in recent years with implications on Chinese societies within and beyond the region. Social transformations pose new challenges to academics and policy makers who seek to understand emerging social and political issues including gender inequalities, social inclusion, ageing population, migration and family well-being, and many more. This conference will explore social transformations, challenges, and strategies necessary to achieve sustainable social development in this region and their interconnections with the rest of the world. It aims to facilitate discussions between scholars from sociology, anthropology, geography, political science as well as neighbouring research disciplines who work on social changes, social problems and sustainability in Greater China.
We look forward to your participation in this exciting conference, which promises to facilitate meaningful discussions, knowledge exchange, and the development of solutions to address social challenges and promote sustainable social development in Greater China.
