Abstract<\/strong>
Prof. Tsien will introduce the demography and profile of ageing in Hong Kong, then discuss the challenges on the declining work force, medical and welfare policy and practice, etc. She will focus on opportunities, the \u201cyoung old\u201c as an untapped pool of resources, emergence of the silver market covering products and services intended for consumers who are aged 60 and above, etc.<\/p>

Bio<\/strong>
Prof. Tsien<\/strong>\u00a0is a Visiting Professor of the Respati University of Indonesia, an Honorary Consultant of the Institute of Active Ageing and Jockey Club Smart Ageing Hub of the Department of Bio-medical Engineering, Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). She also lectures part time on the MSc in Clinical Gerontology and End of Life Programme, Dept. of Medicine, at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.<\/p>

Prof. Tsien is the former Professor of Practice (Gerontology) of the Department of Applied Social Sciences and the Founding Director of the Institute of Active Ageing of the PolyU. Teresa has conducted research and published numerous articles and papers on social work and ageing, active ageing, gerontechnology, age-friendly city and dementia caregiving. She is currently appointed to various Hong Kong government boards such as Social Welfare Department Opportunities for the Elderly Project, SCNAM Regional Appeal Committee,Radio and Television Hong Kong Programme Advisory Committee, Social Welfare Department Coordinating Committee on Elderly Services, etc.<\/p>

Prof. Tsien serves as President of WINGS (Women\u2019s Initiative for Ageing Successfully), Vice-chairman of the Senior Citizen Home Safety Association and MIP Care Resources Network Ltd, board member of the Hong Kong Alzheimer\u2019s Disease Association, Age Friendly Policy Committee of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, etc. She is also advisor to 15 non-government organizations. She is a Hong Kong representative of ACAP (Active Aging Consortium in Asia Pacific). Teresa was awarded the Certificate of Commendation by the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2017 in appreciation of her contributions to the ageing research, policy and education.<\/p>
