Her research centers on migration and transnationalism, exploring a wide range of interconnected themes such as ethnic identities, family dynamics, gender, ageing, and the Chinese diaspora. She has examined critical issues related to the migration trajectories of Hong Kong transnational families, social tensions among diverse migrant groups, fatherhood experiences among second-generation returnees, challenges faced by cross-border students, social inequalities in East Asia, and multi-generational ethnicity among Australian-born Chinese. Currently, she is focused on researching transnational ageing and the family processes of older adults from Hong Kong.
