Workshops on \u201cHeritage Conservation Along Belt and Road Zones\u201d on 24 April 2021<\/p>

You are cordially invited to attend the\u00a0Workshops on Heritage Conservation<\/i><\/b>\u00a0to be held on 24 April 2021.<\/p>

The workshops are co-organized by the Department of Social Science, the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong and Contemporary China Studies Research Center, Hong Kong Shue Yan University, and fully supported by the Inter-Institutional Development Scheme (IIDS) administered by the Research Grants Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Project\u00a0(No. IIDS14-H03-19)<\/a>.<\/p>

1. Workshop on Branding Local Community into Silk Roads Heritage Conservation and Tourism<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Objective:<\/p>

This workshop investigates new opportunities for the local community participating in heritage conservation and tourism along Belt and Road zones. The initiative of branding involves not only the implementation of business strategy but also the negotiation and cooperation among state actors and heritage professionals. We will look at other initiatives of local destination and community branding and try to link them with Belt and Road communities through discussion on lessons shared. It will discuss how different aspects of heritage conservation coexists with branding activities and how other brands can teach similar experiences with Silk Road destinations.<\/span><\/p>

2. Workshop on Local Resistance and Heritage Conservation and Tourism Along Belt and Road Zones during the COVID-19 pandemic: the Case of Yazd<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Objective: Facing the latest development of COVID-19, this workshop examines the challenges of local communities of Yazd in heritage conservation and tourism. The pandemic not only adversely affects heritage tourism but also delays the progress of conservation project implementation. How would local community, state actors and heritage professionals work together to combat the negative effects of this unprecedented global health crisis?<\/p>
